Your privacy on PodUnion
Signing in
PodUnion supports ChatGPT and Google sign-in. Facebook and X sign-in may also appear when those providers have been configured and activated. ChatGPT supplies a site-specific account ID, email address, and, when available, your name. Social sign-in is handled through Supabase Auth, which stores your authentication identity and session. PodUnion receives your verified email address and basic profile information. PodUnion does not receive your Google or ChatGPT password or your ChatGPT chat history. Email signup is not yet available.
What is saved
Your profile, posts, comments, follows, likes, connected podcast feed details, imported episode metadata, messages, blocks, reports, and notification read status are saved in the site’s database. Audio and show artwork are loaded from URLs provided by your podcast host. Uploaded MP3 promos, profile photos, and post photos/videos are stored by PodUnion. Draft uploads are available only to their owner; published media is available to signed-in members.
Who can see your content
Your name, podcast name, member profile page, bio, podcast details, posts, comments, likes, and follows are visible to other signed-in members. Choose a display name you are comfortable sharing. Your sign-in email is not shown to other members. Direct messages are available through the app to their sender and recipient. Group chats and their full message history are available only to current participants. Leaving a group removes your access; messages you already sent remain for the other participants unless you delete your PodUnion data. Group chats are not end-to-end encrypted. Reports are available to the reporting member and the site administrator. The site operator and hosting providers have technical access to stored data; messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
External services
ChatGPT handles ChatGPT authentication; Supabase Auth and the selected social provider handle social authentication. Session cookies keep you signed in. Hosting and database services process site data. Playing an episode contacts its audio host, which can receive your IP address and playback requests. RSS imports contact the feed provider. Fonts may be requested from Google Fonts. PodUnion does not currently use advertising trackers.
Podcast spotlights and trending shows
Connected shows can appear in Today’s Mic, a daily random feature, and Community Spotlight, a daily participation-weighted feature within PodUnion. Public community posts and replies from the previous seven days determine capped participation points; private messages do not count. You can exclude your shows from these features in Edit profile. Trending on PodUnion uses recent public episode activity, new follows, and aggregate saves to identify shows gaining interest. Individual saved-post lists remain private, and private messages do not contribute. Featuring preferences also control eligibility for trending. These features do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Your controls
You can edit your profile, remove your own posts and podcast connections, unfollow members, and block members. In your profile, “Delete my PodUnion data” removes records you created, including your messages, profile, and uploaded media. Other members’ replies or copies of shared content may remain. Deletion from the active database may not immediately remove hosting backups or technical logs.
Beta status
